THE GERMAN UNDERGROUND HOSPITAL Departs 10.00am - Returns 12.45pm Daily (except Saturdays) Adult £6.00 Child £3.00 The German Underground Hospital, also known as The Jersey War Tunnels, is a unique record of the Island's resistance during World War II. Featuring fascinating collections of war time memorabilia. Within yards of the entrance is a section of bare, splintered rock face where a simple plaque reads: "Under these conditions men of many nations laboured to construct this hospital. Those who survived will never forget; those who did not will never be forgotten." The kilometre -long tunnels and galleries were clawed out of the rock face and then clad in 6,000 tonnes of concrete. The German Underground Hospital is a unique part of Jersey's history. |
